Why get a cycling coach?

When it comes to cycling, the journey is boundless and exciting! There's so much to discover and embrace. But hey, feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the information out there? No worries! That's where a coach swoops in to save the day! Picture this: a guiding light to lead you through the cycling universe, helping you unlock your full potential! So, you might be wondering, "Why would I need a coach if I'm not into racing?" Well, let me tell you - it's all about learning and growing! A coach isn't just about boosting your fitness levels; they're your compass in the vast wilderness of cycling, steering you towards success!

When I first got into cycling, I had no clue what I was doing. All I remember was I had gotten a good entry-level road bike and was terrified of using clip-in pedals. I can recall falling over at a few stop signs on my first couple of rides as I forgot I was clipped in. Eventually, I learned the art of unclipping and not leaning to the side that was still clipped in. Then my cycling journey took another turn where I started getting in some longer rides. With these longer rides came my first flat tire. Boy, was I helpless as I had no clue that I needed to carry a spare tube with me. From there, I continued to learn more and more about cycling through my own "failures". I learned that nutrition and eating while riding, especially for rides longer than 60 minutes, was important.

Then came the day where I attended a local time trial. I had known what a time trial was because I had watched the Tour de France. At this time trial, I met a guy passing out flyers for a racing team. Meeting a coach who shared my enthusiasm was a turning point. Little did I know that this would spark my interest in racing. Being a high schooler, I convinced my parents to hire this coach. From there, my cycling journey really took off as I learned about structured training, dialing in my nutrition, racing, and so much more.

Over the years, I have had a coach consistently. As my racing has gotten more serious from just the local weekend races to racing professionally at the UCI level internationally, I have learned so much more about cycling. Honestly, a lot of my knowledge today is credited to all the coaches I have had over the years.

So, why invest in a cycling coach? It's simple - to learn, to evolve, to have a mentor by your side for all those "aha moments." Whether you're a newbie dreaming of a century ride or a seasoned rider aiming for new milestones, a coach is your secret weapon. Embrace the value of coaching and watch your cycling dreams soar!
